Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Psychosocial Care training program
Canteen Australia, in collaboration with Youth Cancer Services have developed the Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Psychosocial Care online training program for clinical staff.
This engaging professional development training is designed to support clinical staff to learn more about adolescent and young adult assessment and care planning, and become familiar with the tools and process outlined in the Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Psychosocial Care Manual.
The training will assist clinical staff working with the Adolescent and Young Adult patient population to support psychosocial coping during active treatment and promote healthy post-treatment survivorship.
By registering and completing the training you will:
- Learn why and how this process works including the benefits, research, and how the manuals and tools evolved over time
- Understand how to use the AYA Psycho-Oncology Screening Tool (AYA-POST) to measure the level of distress a young person is experiencing, and identify the key issues of concern that may be contributing to that distress
- Learn how to collaboratively create a care plan with a young person that helps support them as they undergo treatment
- Understand how to conduct effective assessments that increase your understanding of the young person’s goals, resources, past experiences, current relationships, and future expectations
- Work through case studies that are based in both hospital and community settings that will allow you to apply your learning to clinical scenarios
Thank you for taking the time to complete the training, we hope you find it beneficial.
A digital certificate of completion will be issued upon completing the full training including the knowledge quiz at the end.
