Canteen is bursting with excitement about the news that Chatime has come on board as a Major Bandanna Day Partner.
Canteen is the only organisation in Australia dedicated to providing tailored support for young people impacted by cancer. National Bandanna Day, held every October, is Canteen’s iconic fundraising and awareness campaign.
With Chatime’s support, we hope to raise an additional $250k to ensure more young people get the support they need to deal with the immense challenges of cancer.
The funds raised will be committed to the following support services to reduce feelings of isolation, depression and anxiety:
- Canteen Connect – an online community where young people impacted by cancer can connect with others who understand what they’re going through and talk to a counsellor.
- The Robots Program – a service that helps students with cancer stay connected to their school and friends when they’re stuck in hospital or unwell at home.
Peter Orchard, Canteen CEO, said: “Being young is supposed to be fun. The hardest thing you should have to face is deciding which mix-in to add to your Chatime. But unfortunately, some young people have to deal with the terrifying news that they have cancer or that someone they love has been diagnosed. The good news is that when cancer’s in your life, Canteen is in your corner. With Chatime’s support, we are going to be able to deliver our life-changing robots to 50 young people next year. For that, I want to say a huge thank you to every staff member, franchisee and customer of Chatime.”
Canteen would like to thank Karina Iwabuchi, who works at Chatime’s Macquarie Uni T-Brewery. She designed the limited-edition Canteen x Chatime bandanna that’s available at Chatime breweries nationally and Canteen’s Online Shop. All funds raised from the bandanna sales will go directly towards delivering robots to around 1,000 young people who are diagnosed with cancer each year.
Chatime CEO Carlos Antonius said: “Chatime has a history in supporting causes relevant to our young audiences. We are truly humbled to support Canteen with their National Bandanna Day campaign to raise awareness and funds to reach more young people via their Canteen Connect service. Funds raised from bandanna sales in our T-Breweries will contribute to additional robots, enabling cancer patients to stay connected and less isolated during treatment. We are committed to helping them to stay focused on their recovery, potentially with their favourite Chatime in hand.”
