“Thank you so much. This trip was exactly what I needed, a break from day-to-day life, to have a refresh,” Canteen young person.
In June 2022 15 young people affected by cancer headed to the Snowy Mountains for the experience of a lifetime, the Canteen Winter Retreat.
Hosted by Thredbo and Christiania Lodge, our young people were treated to a top-notch snow experience. From lift passes, lessons and all the gear provided by Thredbo, to accommodation, meals, and the perfect setting to relax and refresh at Christiania Lodge.
The Winter Retreat is a longstanding tradition in the Canteen calendar and the relationship between the major donors; Thredbo, and Christiania Lodge, stretches back to before some of this year’s participant were even born!
It may have been chilly, but seeing young people from across NSW, VIC & QLD coming together to connect and escape the stresses that cancer brings, really warmed our hearts.
“We were treated with fantastic food, amazing views, and the most entertaining conversations/moments with our crew. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience for everyone involved that created memories that will last a forever,” said Cameron, Program Coordinator.
We know at Thredbo there are so many people who work behind the scenes to make our trip successful. We would like to acknowledge the way that all the staff at Thredbo treat our group and make us feel welcomed and cared for. From the instructors, rental staff, bus drivers, to the crew who transport our bags - it all goes so smoothly!
We would like to acknowledge the Thredbo Board of Directors who continue to support this trip, year after year making a positive impact on these young people living with cancer.
