The countdown to Canteen’s Bandanna Day kicked off at the iconic Luna Park Sydney, which recently hosted a family fun day for Canteen families to escape the stresses of cancer.

National Bandanna Day is on Friday 28th October and is Canteen’s most recognised annual fundraiser encouraging Australians to show their support for young people impacted by cancer.

The courageous Jo Eager, National Training and People & Culture Manager at Chatime, Bandanna Day’s Principal Partner, shaved off her long locks as part of the campaign’s ‘cut, colour or cover’ hair dare challenge.

Everyone who registers for the Bandanna Day challenge will be automatically entered into the draw to win a luxury 2-night staycation AND a year’s supply of Chatime bubble tea.

Now in its 28th year, Bandanna Day has raised more than $35 million to support young people impacted by cancer. The funds help to provide vital counselling, peer support programs and a 24/7 online service for young people aged 12-25 who are dealing with a close family member’s diagnosis or their own.

Canteen’s goal is to raise $1.6 million this Bandanna Day to ensure no young person has to face cancer alone.

Peter Orchard, CEO of Canteen, said Australians have been coming together on Bandanna Day for 28 years to show their support for young people impacted by cancer.

“Wearing your Canteen bandanna is the ultimate symbol of hope for the 23,000 young people who face the challenges of cancer every year,” he said.

“We are incredibly grateful to our Principal Partner Chatime for their fantastic support. Not only is Chatime as a business helping us support even more young people impacted by cancer, but the personal commitment from their staff like Jo is truly amazing,” he added.

Chatime CEO Carlos Antonius said: “We are truly humbled to support Canteen with National Bandanna Day to help raise awareness and funds for young people impacted by cancer.

“For the second year as Principal Partner, the Chatime network has again embraced this charity across the country.  We have the privilege to see first-hand the difference Canteen is making to a young person’s life. No one should have to experience cancer and if Chatime can assist in making one small difference to a young person’s day, that makes me very happy,” he added.
