At Canteen, we understand the profound impact a cancer diagnosis can have on young people and their families. That's why we're thrilled to partner with Pillow Talk, whose commitment to providing comfort and support has transformed our counselling spaces across Australia.
“We are excited to support Canteen and their program recipients,” shares Natany Pacheco, Pillow Talk Brand and Events Manager at Pillow Talk. “Our key value is giving back, and we feel honoured to help young people and their families feel more comforted when living with a cancer diagnosis.”
Pillow Talk's makeover project has rejuvenated Canteen’s counselling rooms, making them more inviting and comforting for young people meeting with our counsellors and psychologists. The addition of cosy blankets, throws, and other mood-lifting products helps create a nurturing environment where they can feel safe and supported during their sessions.

When Kayla’s mother, Neoma, was diagnosed with cancer in March 2023, Kayla turned to Canteen's free support services, including app-based chat, online counselling, and peer support programs. These resources have been invaluable in helping Kayla navigate her mother's illness and the accompanying emotional challenges.
Kayla was recently the proud winner of Pillow Talk's bedroom makeover and staycation competition. Her newly transformed bedroom, coupled with a luxurious staycation at the Hilton Hotel in Surfers Paradise, will offer joy and respite for mother and daughter when the weather warms up. This experience, promoted through the Canteen Connect online community, will offer Kayla and Neoma a fresh sense of hope and comfort as they continue their journey.
“I was so excited and surprised when I won. I had been wanting to give my room a makeover and my bed looks amazing now! I’m really looking forward to staying at the Hilton with my mum in spring. I love spending one-on-one time with her and this will be a great opportunity to do that.”

Canteen also provides services for parents dealing with cancer in their family, because our research shows that when parents are supported through cancer, their children cope much better as well.
“The breadth and depth of support we have received from Canteen during a difficult year was and will continue to be a huge blessing to this family,” shared Kayla’s mum, Neoma, who is now in remission.
“Kayla winning the gorgeous bed makeover and staycation at the Hilton was like a beacon of light at the end of the tunnel. It has brought us so much joy and we’re so grateful for their generosity.”
We extend our gratitude to Pillow Talk and Hilton Hotels for their generosity and support. Partnerships like these enable Canteen to continue helping young people and their families through a world turned upside down by cancer.
